Today is an outfit I wore to work the other week with my favourite Zara blazer. Although I don't think it has featured on my blog until now it is probably one of the most worn pieces in my wardrobe as it's so versatile with a bit of interest provided by the studs. I also love the chanel-esque boucle fabric that has been left raw at the edges. As the outfit is pretty plain I added some quirkiness with the squiggle print pants and oversized vintage glasses, and some colour with my shoes. Now the shoes I'm not so proud of as they are a Jeffrey Campbell dupe I bought last summer. As a JC fanatic I often feel rather annoyed when the high st copy his designs, but alas I succumbed to the $20 price point and the fact that the Mary Roks don't come in this colour. Although they look extremely similar to the Mary Roks, they are not as high quality as the fabric creased around the ankle on first wear and the edges of the peep toe rub my toes to blister point when worn all day.  Having said that, I still like these shoes as they coordinate perfectly with the squiggle print and add a more summery vibe than my authentic black pair would have x

Hats Cotton On

Since I've had short hair I haven't worn many hats, but after bagging these bargains I think that is about to change. I picked them up on an unexpected trip to Cotton On at only $2 each! I saw the straw cap a while ago and loved it, but my friend thought rather differently. I'm glad I held off on the purchase as I nabbed it for less than the price of a chai latte. As for the floppy hats I was on the hunt for an oxblood one in winter but had no success. Although the season has changed, I think it could transition into summer and at the tiny price got the taupe also to coordinate with my Alexander Wang Rocco x

Today's JCs are the Polly, which I own in grey leather. They're a great staple shoe as they are a rather simple wedge style, comfortable height for all day wear and the mid-grey colour coordinates with my wardrobe very easily. Although I like the brogue detailing and a peep toe, they are rather roomy around the ankle with means I often stick to wearing them with trousers. I haven't worn them in a while so after 'rediscovering' them in this post I think I will x

I made this pleather skirt a few months ago after spotting the fabric and wondering what I could make with it. I'm really pleased with the result as the asymmetrical, wrap-style and punched texture is a bit different to the skater or pencil styles that dominate the pleather skirt market. It's also one of the first garments I've made in a long time so was happy that it all came together nicely (although it is rather revealing to sit down in due to the one press-stud fastening). I also get some sense of personal gratification when I am able to realise and wear one of my own designs out. For this evening outfit I bookended my skirt with royal blue wearing a DIY studded collar shirt and my Jeffrey Campbell Nightwalks as the colour match is uncanny x

I wore the Cuffed last night which are one of my latest JC purchases I picked up pre-shoe spending ban. They're a style I've had my eye on for about a year, but back then thought I would own the grey or black suede. It seems as my JC collection has grown my shoe style has strayed to the more unconventional. As you can see I decided on the coral leather and am happy I did as they're such a unique colour and I prefer the leather finish to the suede. Also, I got them on sale from Eilatan, which is a site I haven't purchased from before. Although the shipping cost was rather extortionate, they arrived in less than a week and the fact the sale price was heavily reduced balanced out the total. Here is the first attempt at styling my printed leather jacket from Topshop. I decided to wear it for a day at work so the rest of the outfit was thrown together very quickly, and is very simple and understated. Paired with an all black ensemble I love the way the jacket instantly brightens up the look and is definitely quirky with the intricate print. I also adore the leather biker style which toughens up the outfit. To complete the look I went with a bright pink lip to coordinate with the flowers. I'm still in awe of the jacket and next outing will pair it with something a little less 'black' x
